Atlantic on Twilight
January 05, 2009
I am surprised the blogosphere has not been all a-twitter over this article in The Atlantic about Twilight. Basically, author Caitlin Flanagan says she hates YA literature (as defined by Gossip Girl, Traveling Pants and, weirdly, Prep) but loves Twilight.
She doesn't seem to realize that she's only looked at a handful of bestselling titles, so that's like saying you hate adult literature based on having read James Patterson and Dean Koontz.
Nor that Prep is not a YA title, at least not technically.
Then she LOVES Twilight with a mad passion! Which I must say surprised me.
But she does make a very convincing and intelligent argument explaining why.
Read it.
