What to buy your boyfriend; what to buy your teenagers: holiday gifts!
December 02, 2008
As I promised, holiday shopping ideas for your teen and also for your BOYFRIEND, since this blog tends to get a tremendous number of hits for searches on gifts for boyfriends, thanks to the passage in The Boyfriend List all about the horrible presents Jackson gives Roo when they're dating.
Here are my suggestions from last year.
And now:
BOOKS FOR YOUR TEENAGE FRIENDS
AND KIDS
AND WHATEVER OTHER TEENAGERS YOU HANG AROUND WITH:
For the ardent reader:
The Spellbook of Listen Taylor by Jaclyn Moriarty
The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart
Montmorency: Thief, Liar, Gentleman by Eleanor Updale
For the reader who wants a funny escape:
Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson
How to Ditch Your Fairy by Justine Larbalestier
For the too-cool guy:
The Spectacular Now, by Tim Tharp
For younger readers who like action and girly stuff combined:
I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Carter
The Squad by Jennifer Barnes
BOOKS AND OTHER STUFF FOR YOUR BOYFRIEND, assuming he is a young type of boyfriend, and the budget is not enormous -- I recommend:
An Abundance of Katherines, by John Green -- now in paperback.
Midnighters, The Secret Hour by Scott Westerfeld.
More later. If I'm in a shoppy mood. Maybe picture books?
