"Hilarious, memorable, and utterly fabulous, DRAMARAMA is E. Lockhart's best book yet."
-- John Green, Printz-winning author of Looking for Alaska and An Abundance of Katherines
Two theater-mad, self-invented, fabulositon Ohio teenagers.
One boy, one girl.
One gay, one straight.
One black, one white.
And SUMMER DRAMA CAMP.
It's a season of hormones,
gold lame,
hissy fits,
jazz hands,
song and dance,
true love,
and unitards
that will determine their future
--and test their friendship.
That's my Spring 07 novel, and I'm so excited about it. It's called Dramarama.
And here is the cover! Woohoo!
Dramarama isn't out until May 2006, but this post is for BOOKSELLERS and LIBRARIANS who might well have an advanced reader's copy by now. All the songs from Dramarama are here, on an iMix.
You click on the link above and iTunes will open straight to the mix. Listen before you read Dramarama to make sure you get every little musical reference. Listen afterwards to get a sense of Sadye and Demi's musical world. (No iTunes? click here for the straight-up songlist.)
In any case, these are some of my favorite showtunes of all time. Songs from Rent, Wicked, Guys & Dolls, Cabaret, Chicago, Bye Bye Birdie, Oliver!, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Jersey Boys, Grease, Fame, Sweet Charity, Little Shop of Horrors, and more.
"E. Lockhart mixes summer camp, friendship, glitter, romance, dancing, singing and theater to make this book a Show Stopper! Brava!"
-- Cecil Castelluci, author of Boy Proof and Queen of Cool
"All of us have bigness within, waiting to burst forth. But if you don't know when -- or if -- that bigness is going to happen, it can be crazy-making. (Especially if you're on the dramatic side to begin with!) DRAMARAMA perfectly captures the rush of working hard and playing hard, screwing up and making up, all for the chance to become the biggest and best you can be."
-- Lauren Myracle, author of TTYL, TTFN and Rhymes with Witches

I just finished reading Dramarama and it is AMAZING! Being a musical, theater nerd I loved hearing about an experience that sounded like a true story. I loved hearing about Sayde's struggles while Demi was flying by. Great book! Two thumbs way, WAY up! :)

I spotted Dramarama in the Teen section of my local Books A Million, and it caught my eye, mostly from the title. I am a HUGE theater geek (and I'm currently playing Natalie in my High school's production of All Shook Up) So I squealed at all of the Broadway references. Well, I sat down right there on the floor in the bookstore and read through half of it-until my dad dragged me out of the store. I'm going back soon so I can finish it and buy it :D

I loved Dramarama! I mean, I'm still reading it since I got it from the LMC 1 day ago. I'm in the middle of the book, and the drama plot and Demi and Sayde's friendship really makes the book shine. Even through the obstacles brought upon them at Wildewood were enough to make their friendship fall apart, their friendship is so strong, I don't think it's going to break. I heart the book, and I recomend it to people who aren't homophobic or rasist, love drama or any of the Arts, and love reading about true love and friendship,I guess. Oh,and over 12 and with smart and thoughtful minds so they can deeply understand the book,I think.
Ciao!

This message is to Rocky. My name is Robin Cabico, you had put in a resequt for a fellow alum, Art Cabico, to find a bone marrow donor. I'm not sure you knew, but Art finally found a 9/10 bone marrow match and was scheduled for a transplant on December 6th, 2008. On December 4th, they ran blood work and the cancer had become extremely aggressive. He passed away on December 6th. I wasn't sure how else to reach you. Thank you for passing the information along on your website. We only wish he had survived.
